O bairro Moinhos de Vento, em Porto Alegre, na primeira metade do S\u00e9culo XX abrigava o Est\u00e1dio da Baixada (Gr\u00eamio) e o Hip\u00f3dromo dos Moinhos de Vento. Foi neste ambiente que a paix\u00e3o pelo Gr\u00eamio e pelas corridas de cavalo foi fortalecida em Flavio Obino. Seu pai, Gabriel, Presidente do Conselho Deliberativo do Gr\u00eamio e pequeno propriet\u00e1rio de cavalos de corrida, contribuiu para o fortalecimento destes la\u00e7os.<\/p>\n

Em 1974, j\u00e1 na dire\u00e7\u00e3o da Arrozeira Brasileira S. A., Flavio Obino desenvolveu um ambicioso projeto de cria\u00e7\u00e3o do cavalo de corrida (Puro Sangue Ingl\u00eas) como neg\u00f3cio. Nascia o Haras Capela de Santana. Foram compradas na Argentina \u00e9guas prenhes, outras em final de campanha, e potrancas de dois anos que seriam futuramente aproveitadas como reprodutoras; bem como o cavalo Sin Olvido (El Centauro), para futuro reprodutor. Os primeiros produtos nasceram em 1975 (Run Horse foi o primeiro). Em 1976, na sua primeira gera\u00e7\u00e3o oferecida em leil\u00e3o, os produtos do Capela de Santana foram comprados por importantes propriet\u00e1rios do Rio de Janeiro, e Capela Sun (Solazo) bateu o recorde dos leil\u00f5es de potros do Rio Grande do Sul. O Capela figurou entre os dez primeiros da estat\u00edstica de criadores na G\u00e1vea com sua gera\u00e7\u00e3o de 1976.<\/p>\n

Em 1977 foi adquirido o Haras Serrilhada em Bag\u00e9. O projeto arrojado previa duas se\u00e7\u00f5es, uma em Bag\u00e9 (na \u00e9poca despertando para a cria\u00e7\u00e3o do PSI) onde ficariam as matrizes e a de Capela de Santana para a finaliza\u00e7\u00e3o do preparo dos potros para os leil\u00f5es. O craque uruguaio Chaval foi incorporado nesta compra. Finalmente, foi adquirido o garanh\u00e3o americano Yonder II, filho do lend\u00e1rio Bold Ruler, e a \u00e9poca pai das recordistas dos 1.000 metros no Chile (Kippy) e Argentina (Malaika). O plantel de reprodutoras era formado por cerca de 60 (sessenta) matrizes, na sua maioria argentinas e uruguaias, mas tamb\u00e9m por inglesas, francesas e nacionais selecionadas.<\/p>\n
Problemas financeiros da Arrozeira Brasileira S. A., no in\u00edcio dos anos 80, n\u00e3o permitiram a continuidade do projeto. As \u00e1reas em que o Haras Capela de Santana estava instalado foram negociadas, \u00e9guas vendidas, e o haras transferido para Eldorado do Sul (ainda em instala\u00e7\u00f5es da Arrozeira Brasileira). A \u00e1rea era impr\u00f3pria para a cria\u00e7\u00e3o e em 1986 a se\u00e7\u00e3o foi desativada. O Haras Capela de Santana, criando poucos produtos por ano e em regime de pensionato, se manteve ativo.<\/p>\n
Em 2004, incentivado pelo sucesso como propriet\u00e1rio (Stud Casablanca) e por sua esposa Ana L\u00facia Garbin, Fl\u00e1vio Obino Filho adquiriu uma \u00e1rea de terras em Sentinela do Sul e retomou a cria\u00e7\u00e3o Capela de Santana em local pr\u00f3prio. Privilegiando a qualidade e criando cavalos para o Stud Casablanca, o Haras Capela de Santana produziu, neste per\u00edodo, os ganhadores cl\u00e1ssicos Yes Gr\u00eamio, Caio de Naranjos, Duque di Lorenzo, Grecco Sim, Hastapopoulos, Hermano L\u00f4, Honfleur, Huellas de Arena, Her\u00f3i Fon, Iabud, Kacique Fon, Karkaroff, Kung F\u00fa L\u00f4, Mucho Fon, Nadador L\u00f4, Odin, Obinophone, Ol\u00e9 Gremista, Muguruza, Qu\u00e9chua, Rocky Fon, Riomaggiore, Rauzan, Renight, Sonhador Vi e Temido Fon Figurou entre os dez haras melhores colocados por aproveitamento nas estat\u00edsticas nacionais de criadores de ganhadores de provas black type e venceu quatro estat\u00edsticas de criadores no Cristal, e quatro de criadores da nova gera\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n
Fl\u00e1vio Obino Filho, Ana L\u00facia Garbin, Fl\u00e1vio Obino Neto, Lorenzo Garbin Obino e Vicente Garbin Obino est\u00e3o hoje a frente do haras que em 2024 completar\u00e1 50 anos.<\/p>\n

Fl\u00e1vio Obino Filho, desde seus primeiros passos, frequentou o Jockey Club do Rio Grande do Sul e sua paix\u00e3o pelos cavalos aumentou com o sucesso nas pistas das \u00e9guas importadas da Argentina para formarem o Haras Capela de Santana.<\/p>\n
Com a desativa\u00e7\u00e3o das instala\u00e7\u00f5es do Haras Capela de Santana nos anos 80 e com a forte atividade profissional desenvolvida na \u00e1rea do Direito, Fl\u00e1vio Obino Filho acabou se afastando do hip\u00f3dromo. O retorno ocorreu em 1998. Durante uma sess\u00e3o do Conselho da OAB (integrava o Conselho) comprou, por telefone, em um leil\u00e3o de animais em treinamento, o cavalo Guerreiro King, de cria\u00e7\u00e3o do Haras Lorol\u00fa e que defendia os interesses da fam\u00edlia Machline em S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n

Guerreiro King foi alojado nas cocheiras do treinador Herm\u00ednio Machado (antigo capataz do Haras Capela de Santana nos anos 70) e se transformou no melhor milheiro do Cristal, vencendo o GP Presidente da Rep\u00fablica (milha do Bento Gon\u00e7alves) \u00e0 \u00e9poca prova de Grupo 3.<\/p>\n
Na sequ\u00eancia foi adquirido V\u00edcio Sagrado, campe\u00e3o de velocidade no Cristal, e formado o Stud Casablanca. A princ\u00edpio constitu\u00eddo por cavalos em campanha adquiridos no centro do pa\u00eds e depois, por produtos criados no Haras Capela de Santana, o stud rapidamente se tornou uma das for\u00e7as do turfe ga\u00facho.<\/p>\n

O primeiro campeonato de propriet\u00e1rios (estat\u00edstica) veio logo. Na temporada 1999\/2000 foram 24 vit\u00f3rias, sendo 10 na esfera cl\u00e1ssica. O tri-campeonato seguido foi conquistado em 2002. Hoje s\u00e3o seis t\u00edtulos. Fl\u00e1vio Obino Filho, atrav\u00e9s do Stud Casablanca e de outras parcerias, \u00e9 provavelmente o maior ganhador da hist\u00f3ria do turfe ga\u00facho. J\u00e1 s\u00e3o mais de 500 vit\u00f3rias no Cristal, sendo aproximadamente de 160 na esfera cl\u00e1ssica. Quanto aos cl\u00e1ssicos, Fl\u00e1vio Obino Filho \u00e9 o maior ganhador da hist\u00f3ria do Jockey Club do Rio Grande do Sul tendo superado o propriet\u00e1rio Breno Caldas que tinha a marca de 122 vit\u00f3rias na esfera nobre.<\/p>\n
As conquistas do GP Bento Gon\u00e7alves (Amor Eterno em parceira com Luiz Fernando Cirne Lima) e do GP Protetora do Turfe (Mucho Dinero em parceira com Caio Zogbi Vit\u00f3ria), os triunfos e recordes do super craque Tokay, as vit\u00f3rias de Muguruza em provas de Grupo, os Presidentes da Rep\u00fablica (Guerreiro King, Conde Vic, Tokay e Mucho Fon), as cinco Ta\u00e7as de Cristal com produtos criados pelo Haras Capela de Santana (Yes Gr\u00eamio, Grecco Sim, Hermano L\u00f4, Nadador L\u00f4 e Ol\u00e9 Gremista), a lideran\u00e7a da gera\u00e7\u00e3o de Sonhador Vi e Temido Fon s\u00e3o os destaques dessa trajet\u00f3ria vitoriosa.<\/p>\n
